INGREDIENTS AND THEIR BENEFITS
Biotin helps in the production of amino acids (key protein building blocks) and enhances the body’s keratin base. Keratin is the major protein that stimulates hair growth. Biotin could help get rid of uncombable hair syndrome and reduce its symptoms such as scaling, hair loss, and hair breakability. It helps to revitalize and reinforce the hair follicles and enhance the thickness of each strand and make the hair appear voluminous. Low biotin intake results in brittleness of the hair and hair loss. Biotin helps thwart alopecia by inhibiting the transition of Testosterone into DHT.
2. HYDROLYZED COLLAGEN
Collagen comprises of amino acids that help keratin production, a protein that promotes hair growth. Collagen helps slow down or reverse senescent hair loss or non-hormonal age-related hair loss by restoring essential structural proteins. The antioxidant nature of collagen stabilizes free radicals and thwarts DNA damage, which leads to shrinking of hair follicles and thinning of hair. The clinical correlation between the extracellular matrix and hair follicular regeneration concludes that collagen can be effective against hair loss.
Arginine, an amino acid of collagen, helps increase nitric oxide in the blood. Nitric oxide acts as a vasodilator and helps improve blood circulation and supply of oxygen and nutrients to the hair follicles and thus stimulate hair growth. Arginine aids in the production of keratin, a building block in hair development. Arginine helps thwart the harmful effects of hydrogen peroxide on hair proteins and surface lipids.
3. HYDROLYZED SILK PROTEIN
Hydrolyzed Silk Protein is a strong humectant that retains moisture 10,000 times its weight. It exhibits excellent moisture binding and repair abilities. It forms a thin water film around the hair strands and imparts luster, elasticity, stoutness, and strength to the hair. Sericin, one of the proteins in Silk, repairs and binds the damaged cuticle (outer layer of the skin) and helps stop the leakage of protein from the hair. It is believed that Sericin stimulates the dermal papilla cells that nourish hair growth. Glycine, one of the amino acids in Silk protein helps produce collagen and fights hair loss.
4. VITAMIN E
The strong antioxidant nature of vitamin E detoxifies the detrimental effects of oxidative stress by neutralizing free radicals. It also helps decrease the degradation of lipids (lipid peroxidation). Thus, it helps avoid cell damage by both oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation and fight hair loss or alopecia. Vitamin E is believed to enhance blood circulation and supply of oxygen and nutrients to the scalp leading to an increase in the number and size of the hair follicles.
Vitamin E forms a protective sheath over the cuticles, seals the moisture, reduces split ends, and regulate surplus sebum production. It keeps the hair hydrated, lustrous, voluminous, and combable.
5. MOROCCAN ARGAN OIL
Argan oil permeates the cuticles effectively and conditions the hair resulting in shiny, supple, flexible, and manageable hair. The retinoids (Vitamin A and its derivatives) present in Argan oil help to regulate the production and management of sebum, hydrate the scalp effectively and reduce surplus oiliness.
The antioxidant ability of Argan oil due to Vitamin E stabilizes the reactive oxygen species and thwarts oxidation and cell degeneration. This results in alleviating hair loss or alopecia. Vitamin E helps improve blood circulation to the scalp that helps promote follicle health and hair growth.
6. AVOCADO OIL
Avocado oil, which is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids, proteins, and minerals, reinforce the building blocks of the hair. The vitamin E in Avocado oil boosts the hair follicles and amends the deterioration caused by the detrimental effects of synthetic treatments. Vitamin B helps maintain the hair follicles and reduce scaly scalp. Avocado oil is believed to seal the cuticles and reduce split ends. It acts as a lubricating agent and helps detangle the hair.
Avocado’s moisturizing nature helps alleviate dry and brittle hair and averts the onset of dandruff. It helps protect hair damage from environmental elements such as exposure to sunlight, pollutants etc, and bleaching, heat treatments, and swimming and bathing in chlorine or seawater. Avocado’s Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids help diminish hair loss and enhance hair diameter and thickness. The fatty acids are believed to promote hair growth through their anti-inflammatory properties.
7. SHEA BUTTER
Shea butter is derived from the Shea “Karite” tree, which is native to West Africa. The high fatty acid content in the form of stearic acid, oleic acids, palmitic, linoleic, and arachidic acids makes Shea butter an excellent moisturizing agent. They enable Shea butter to permeate the hair shaft, restore the hydro-lipid layer, cortex, and dermal layer and helps reinforce the strands and reduce a loss of moisture and hair breakage. It gives hair a glossy, supple and bulky appearance. The triterpene acetates and cinnamates present in Shea butter possess strong anti-inflammatory property. They suppress the inflammation of the scalp, which damages hair follicles and results in hair loss and reduced development of new strands.
Shea’s potent antioxidant ability helps overcome the oxidative stress caused by UV light, pollutants, toxins, oxidized lipids, and smoking etc. It neutralizes the free radicals, inhibits release of inflammatory agents, and reduces cell damage and hair loss. The vitamin E rich Shea butter revitalizes the scalp and hair and helps promote hair growth.
8. OAT EXTRACT
Oat extract is rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins A and E, and minerals. The Vitamin B in Oat extract, which acts as a humectant, draws moisture to the outer surface of the hair while permeating into the cortex and revitalizing it. It relieves brittleness, makes hair more flexible, and eliminates mechanical and manipulative damage to wavy and frizzy hair.
The polysaccharide, Beta-glucan, present in Oat extract is an excellent emollient, which fills the open spaces between cells with fatty acids and makes hair smoother and softer. It also acts as an occlusive agent by forming a defensive sheath over the hair strands and guarding it against harmful climatic conditions. Oatmeal is believed to reduce itching in the scalp and hair, reduce split ends or breakages, and mitigate hair loss.
9. PEPPERMINT OIL
Peppermint oil is believed to relieve dryness, irritations, and other scalp issues. Menthol present in Peppermint oil is a vasodilator. It improves the blood circulation that increases the supply of essential nutrients to the follicles and thus nourishes and revitalizes them. This leads to the growth of the hair, apart from imparting invigorating fragrance to the hair.
