Children are the biggest sufferers in the case of parents breaking off from each other. You need to convince your children in the favor of your decision, before you go ahead in it. Prepare your child to accept the diffraction of your relation. In such a situation, it is necessary to talk to them. Do not bring them in a psychological shock by imposing your decision. At the same time, you need to take care that the child does not invoke a hatred for such relations in general.
Tell them about the break they are likely to face in near future. A child needs both the parents. But when he/she has to make a choice between the two, you need to convince the child, that you will love him/her more than ever. It shall still be difficult for him/her to accept this diffraction. But then, the child will not repent being with you. In such situations, children often try to evade the topic. They might avoid talking on this topic, either by keeping mum or by simply just running away. They are not reluctant. Rather they are too afraid of facing the reality.
Help them overcome this fear. You be there support. At a time which you think is right to raise the issue, talk to them about what they feel about your separation. Surely they are not going to feel great about it. Nor will it be so easy for them to talk on the topic. You need to help them in surviving the intensity of their emotions its effects.
In lack of a parent, children often develop certain unnatural behavior. This can not be understood without a good observation on your part. Be a minute observer of your child’s behavior. Help them over come the vacuum that separation from a parent has caused. Give them a healthy view of life, so that their opinion about marriage is not tainted by the load of past experiences.
