Symptoms of Stress
There are many signs and symptoms of stress. Individuals may react differently during stress situations and all of them are not likely to show the same kind of symptoms. Yet there are certain behaviour changes, emotional changes and physical changes that may be observed in people which could be an indication that he/she is stressed.
One of the most important sign is the feeling of being tired, exhausted, saturated and passive. A person may feel there is no stamina left to do anything. Weakness and fatigue may set in, and there would be aversion to any kind of physical work.
There may be a tendency to over sleep. Due to the exhaustion and stress, the mind and body get overworked and the person may actually feel sleepy even after normal hours of sleep. He/she will not feel active and refreshed even on waking up from sleep.
Another opposite reaction may also be observed. A stressed person may lose sleep due to tension, worry, anxiety and other factors that are triggering the stress.
Changes in appetite and food consumption patterns can also be seen. Some people may crave to eat more under stress. They may have an urge to eat deep fried spicy foods, some may have urge to munch on to something, some may crave for sweets or chocolates.
Contrary to that some people may find food repelling. Their inclination to eat food will be less, there will be no appetite, or even if there is appetite they may just not feel like eating. Starving, eating meager quantity of food, drastic reduction in food than what is normally consumed are some signs too.
Weight loss may be observed in some individuals who follow a consistently stressful life. Pale appearance, droopy eyes, fidgety behaviour, nervousness, panic, anxiety may be prevalent, they may look disoriented and helpless.
Women may see changes in menstrual cycle and quantity of flow due to high stress level.
