Summer Pregnancy Spa Secrets
With summer in full swing, it becomes difficult to muster up that pregnancy glow when you’re hot and tired. You can fake the radiance with these smart summer pampering strategies. With a couple of at-home treatments and in-salon ideas, you can enjoy this pregnant summer as a hot-looking and cool-feeling mom-to-be.
Body Scrub
This rejuvenating sugar body scrub can help keep you cool. You will need 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, 1 tablespoon honey, 1/2 cup jojoba oil and 1/4 cup liquid soap.
Place the sugar in a medium-size bowl, then add the honey, jojoba oil and liquid soap and mix all ingredients thoroughly.
Step into a warm bathroom, dry the tub, line it with towels and lower yourself in. Now gently massage the scrub all over your skin, from neck to toe. After a full-body application rinse the scrub from your skin with warm water. Be careful when getting out of the bath tub as jojoba oil will make it slippery.
The Mask of Pregnancy
Many pregnant women are prone to facial skin discoloration also known as chloasma, which can be especially bothersome during the summer months. To help achieve a natural balance and glow, you can try a gentle exfoliating mask followed by plenty of moisturizer.
For this Pumpkin and Papaya Mask you need 1/2 fresh papaya, 1 egg white, 1 (15-ounce) can pure pumpkin and 1 teaspoon honey.
Remove the seeds from the papaya, scoop out the fruit and mash it in a bowl. In another bowl, beat the egg white until frothy. Mix the egg white and mashed papaya together then add pumpkin and honey to the mixture. Apply the mixture to your face and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse off and then apply sun block.
Twinkle Toes
Pregnant women can safely enjoy pedicures. You just need to be careful that the odor in many nail salons may be overwhelming due to your heightened sense of smell. Look for a well-ventilated salon that has a station near a window and a bathroom close by and try to book the first appointment of the day, when odors are less pervasive.
It is advisable to check with your doctor before indulging in any pampering experiences that you’re uncertain about.
