Are you like one of those guys who tend to slag off every once in a while when it comes to work-outs? Then you probably are aware that these little slips can really eat into your progress or even stop it. Here are some ideas on how to keep you motivated week after week for a regular workout:
Have A Goal
Write time-specific goals in a diary and see whether you have attained them when the time is up. Set up short-term goals and track your progress in relation to them. If you workout as a team then try picking up one guy on your team and set your goal to beat him.
Make Exercising A Habit
Establishing a regular workout routine and following it for 2 or 3 months will condition your body to it. Start thinking of your next workout immediately after you finish the current one. This way you’ll be totally prepared and ready to workout when you hit the gym.
Keep In Mind The Benefits
Think about how much better you will feel once you finish the workout. Workouts do not have to be all-or-nothing. When you don’t feel like exercising you can reduce the intensity because it is always better to do some form of exercise rather than nothing at all.
Work Out Right
Don’t push yourself too hard. If something hurts, then stop doing it and take care of it. Compare the amount of training you are doing with the amount of rest you are receiving. If you are working out too much and not getting enough rest then you need to modify your fitness plan.
Visualize Triumph
Imagine you are 50 years old and still want to play sports with your children. Workout to see yourself achieve this feat.
Let Others Assist
Start an e-mail group of regulars at your gym or club, where everyone can send in motivational tips and get advice from others.
Just let go yourself when you workout. Keep all tensions and worries away and just concentrate on enjoying yourself. This enjoyment will keep you motivated to workout regularly.
