Some Romance Myths
Not every romance is like a Mills and Boon story. In reality, a lot of things differ from what we read in romance novels or see in soppy romantic movies. Since the time before the first kiss, people have learnt a lot about romance and not necessarily from reliable sources. We have grown up dreaming about beautiful princesses and knights in shining armour and have given in to the idea of a fairy tale romance. However here are a few romance myths that we have grown up with and can be disastrous in a relationship today.
The first myth is that absence makes the heart grow fonder. It is not feasible in today’s world. The more time you spend apart, the more are the chances that you relationship might just crumble. You need to be very careful about the amount of time you spent together to see to it that you are either overspending or under spending time with your partner.
The second myth is that love conquers all. Initially it might seem like a small problem and can get you past some blocks, like being from different religions or having different views about having children, but basic challenges can be enough to undermine even the most loving of couples. Just because your differences don’t seem like a big deal at the early stages of your relationship, never underestimate the extra work that this kind of pairing requires.
The third and most common myth is that love is blind. Maybe your partner never said that they chose you for your looks but believe me everyone knows the most beautiful features of their beloved. There is no way that your partner will not notice if you have put on a few kilos or are being unkempt.
The fourth myth is that actions speak louder than words. You might think that just giving flowers on your anniversary is enough but believe me if you fail to tell your beloved how much you love them it is all worthless. People put a lot of importance to words. Not that you should keep on saying the same things again and again but saying those magical words when your partner needs them is just wonderful.
While romance and relationships go hand in hand, it’s best for you not to let these types of myths guide you in your relationship.
