Sleeping Beauty

We have often heard our mothers ask us to get our sleep before we go for some function. I had often wondered why she would say that. Later I realized that a good night’s sleep helps you wake up the next day with a naturally fresh and glowing skin.
No doubt we have the advantage of makeup now-a-days, but makeup can only camouflage the deficiencies of your skin and cannot make it look better. To get this beauty sleep (as we all call it) there are some dos and don’ts. Make sure you follow them and wake up to beautiful, glowing skin.
Let’s talk about the dos first. It is extremely necessary to keep regular hours for sleeping and waking. It becomes a schedule and you will no matter what feel sleepy at that time everyday. Meditation before bedtime is another thing to do in case you are having difficulty in sleeping. It calms the mind and helps you relax.
Try out a glass of warm milk with a tablespoon of honey in it. It is thoroughly relaxing for the body. Having a room with a comfortable temperature is a good thing to do, and so is reading. But make sure that you have a bed switch to turn off the lights once you have the droopy eyes, so that you don’t need to wake up to switch them off.
Now let’s talk about the don’ts. Never exercise before going to bed. It leads to adrenaline to flow in to your body and makes you edgy. You should never try to sleep immediately after having your meal. Sleeping on a full stomach can lead to problems like indigestion as well. Caffeine should be avoided at any cost before you go to bed. In fact having any form of caffeine after 7 PM is not advisable. Preferably your TV should not be in the bedroom as it might entice you in case you are not sleepy.
Though these can solve the problems of anyone who might miss a day of sleep or two but in case you suffer from insomnia, you need to seek medical help immediately.
