Say Bye-Bye to Brittle Nails
How many times have we had to cut out nails short because one of the nails has broken at a terrible juncture? Brittle nails generally are not always due to a medical problem, but can be genetically inherited. Too much exposure to water, detergents, nail polish removers, soil and so on can lead to brittle nails. Also due to fungal infections your nails can become brittle to a large extent. If you want to make sure that you don’t end up with brittle nails, you need to follow a few tips.
A healthy diet has always been the best way to take care of your body. So in case of your nails too, this comes in very handy. You should include a lot of calcium-rich foods in your diet. A few examples of calcium-rich foods are dairy products like milk, cheese, cottage cheese and yogurt, as well as dark green leafy vegetables, almonds, and beans and so on. Once you include plenty of these in your food, you will see the difference.
Secondly try and avoid using nail polish removers too frequently. The lesser you use these, the better it is. In fact you should not keep your nails covered with nail polish for too long either. This does not give your nails a chance to breathe and leads to brittle nails.
Thirdly while doing work like washing, cleaning, or gardening, you should wear gloves. This prevents your nails from coming with direct contact with detergents, cleaning acids and soil.
Fourthly never expose your nails to too much water and for too long. Restrict the contact with water as much as you can, and whenever possible, do wear a pair of gloves.
Fifthly massage your nails with hand lotion or vitamin-e oils after a bath to make sure they have the necessary strength. Also whenever you have to use your nail file, it’s better to use a glass file than a metal one.
Follow these rules and have healthy nails.
