Safe Ways to Exercise
Exercising is one of the best ways to improve your health and fitness. It helps in improving your blood circulation, aiding the process of digestion and metabolism, improving stamina, refreshing and energizing the body and mind, releasing stress and tension, and relaxing muscles.
However, certain precautions need to be taken so that exercises fulfill their intended purpose and do not do the opposite of what it is meant to do. It should not end you up with a sprain, injury or cramped muscles, though exercising after a long gap may cause muscle pain as the muscles get worked out.
Warm up is essential before exercising. Do not hit off your exercise or sports activity before warming up. Warm up helps to prepare your body and gives the necessary kick that readies the muscles to perform those activities you put it through. are a good way to begin any exercising process.
Never exercise on full stomach. It is a myth that exercising immediately after eating will lead to better digestion or faster weight loss. There should be a gap of at least one hour or more between the time you eat and the time you begin exercising.
Exercising immediately after eating will lead to problems in digestion, stomach cramps, pain the abdomen region, feeling of food being choked, feeling of being constricted, unease and discomfort. It can also lead to nausea and vomiting.
Water consumption must be minimum during exercises. The body gets heated up during exercises and water tends to cool the body. However, consuming excessive water can lead to sudden body temperature fluctuations. This may lead to cold, congestion in chest, running nose etc.
Similarly, you must avoid drinking chilled water during or immediately after exercises. Do not immediately bath after exercises as you may develop cold or fever due to sudden alterations in body temperature.
Exercise in a place that has moderate temperature, or in natural surroundings. In case you have a home based exercising equipment, avoid operating the fan at full speed while working out. Avoid working out with the air conditioner on.
Wear padded cushioned footwear for comfort and grip. Avoid wearing flip flops or sandals.
