If you are finding it difficult to understand your parents, then it is nothing very different. Often, children at this age find it hard to understand why parents restrict their freedom, butting in their personal lives. The reason behind such a lack of connection is that you tend to see them as “legal forces” working on you. But just realize the fact that they don’t intend to keep you away from your happiness. They want to take care that you don’t fall a pray to evils, that might cause you harm.
To have your share of independence, make your parents, your best friends. Tell them about your thoughts and intentions. And they will extend you all the suggestions that you might need as a teenager. Taking your own decisions is always good, but if you do it without understanding the facts of life, then things can go really dangerous for you. And then, if you make your parents your friend, you will have them as your support in the time of need, even if your friends betray you.
One thing that parents often deny is, having an affair at this age. They might not be wholly correct in thinking so, but they are not absolutely wrong also. You need to know your limitations. Which if crossed, can ruin your life. Things like sex and dating have an uncommon fascination at this age. But physically, we are not ready for such sexual adventures. At this time of age, bodies are in their growing stage, and not ready for physical intimacies.
Emotions are another important factor of teenage. Even these feelings are not fully developed at this age. You tend to have strong emotions, which can overpower you. Making you do things, which can go against you. These emotions are not long lasting, though very strong in their effect for the moment. Surrendering to such feelings can be suicidal in nature. You need proper suggestions, which your friends being of your age can give you. Trusting anyone else with your secrets can be really dangerous. So try to understand your parent’s point of view, and then if you disagree, you can tell them your views. But make them your secret keeper, which will save you from many problems in life.
