Women may go through irritation, pain, restlessness, discomfort, leg pain, stomach cramps during their menstrual phase. This is the time when their body needs rest and comfort. Due to strain and stress the flow can also alter and some women may experience heavy flow if they go through physically taxing work or go through mental ups and downs.
Rest and relaxation are very important during this time. This does not mean spending the whole time sleeping or watching television. It means occupying yourself with work that is not taxing, doesn’t create a burden on your physical resources and is not exhausting in nature.
It is also important you keep yourself engrossed with some kind of recreation or with some kind of interesting work so that your mind is engrossed and you do not really feel the discomfort during this phase.
Do not follow a hectic schedule during these days. Avoid too much of travelling as travelling now a days is hectic and bumpy road rides can cause pain and lead to heavy flow.
Do not lift heavy items or carry loads during this period. Avoid pulling or dragging heavy goods, avoid too much of outdoor work or loitering in the sun etc.
Try to be calm. Be in a carefree and cheerful state of mind. Avoid all kinds of depressing and stressing thoughts. Use this time to relax and enjoy yourself. You may get into your hobbies like watching movies, playing any musical instrument, attending dramas or concerts, reading books and so on.
Keep yourself cool and comfortable so that the irritation and restlessness doesn’t crop up. Avoid going out in the heat, stay indoors or in a place that is cool and breezy. This will help you to be cool and composed.
Drink plenty of water, as during period some of you may find the body temperature increasing. To prevent the heat and its side effects like rashes, burning sensation etc adequate consumption of water is essential. You may consume fruit juice or drink coconut water or buttermilk.
Avoid heavy exercises or workout during this period. You may go for a stroll with friends or walk through parks for relaxation.
Eat right proportions of food throughout the day so that your stamina and energy levels are maintained.
