Tanned skin may make you look darker than your normal complexion and lead to worry or anxiety about your appearance. Tanning may make your appearance worse if it is uneven and appears in patches on the skin rather than tanning uniformly.
Tan can be controlled or lessened by using anti tanning lotion or sun block lotions available in the market. Use a sunscreen of higher SPF if your exposure to sun is more.
If you reduce the exposure of skin to sources that cause tanning, the skin can be restored to normal complexion in a span of few days. Therefore, reduce your exposure to direct sun rays, use protective gears like umbrella or cap while walking in the sun.
Swimmers would also benefit by going for a swim every alternate days rather than everyday. This reduces the exposure to chlorine water and may not increase the tan. It might be better to choose timings when the sun is not up, so that tanning will be prevented.
To reduce tan you may use mild exfoliants so that the tanned darkened surface is removed. You may use face scrub for this purpose. Face scrub with walnut, apricot, strawberry are good for reducing tan. However, one must guard against excessive scrubbing as it may drain out the natural minerals and vitamins present in the skin.
Using peel off masks are a good way to reduce tan, using a product with orange extract, or peel off masks with skin whitening properties will be helpful. Some soaps or skin whitening face wash with mild exfoliants could also give the desired result.
You may also make face pack at home that will enable you to reduce tan. For example, you can use mashed strawberry and massage it evenly on the skin. Leave it on for 20 minutes and wash it with lukewarm water. Strawberry is a natural bleaching agent, exfoliates dry dead skin and adds a glow to the skin.
Applying yogurt or cream of milk to face everyday helps in lightening the skin complexion. Making a face pack using yogurt, turmeric, tomato/lemon juice is also a good option. Lemon is an exfoliating agent; however, direct contact with lemon might dry out the skin making it rough and patchy.
