How to Keep your Skin Smooth

A smooth satin texture of the skin gives you a feeling of being cherished and cared for. It brings on an extra glow to the face and adds to the confidence you feel about your looks and appearance.

Smooth skin is also an indication of healthy skin as it means that the skin is well moisturized, is supplemented with essential nutrients and vitamins that help in maintaining the texture and vibrance of the skin.

Skin develops a rough uneven texture due to exposure to sunlight, pollutants, dirt and grime from the atmosphere and improper ways of handling facial skin. It develops a dark complexion, gets patchy at places and begins to look dull, beaten and unattractive.

Skin care needs attention on a day to day basis; it is not a one time job. Washing the face at least twice daily is a good way to keep the skin clean and soft. However, you must avoid washing the face with soap as it tends to dry out the skin. Use an appropriate face wash depending upon your skin type.

You may wash your face with just plain water anytime during the day. However, one should guard against excessive washing as it can drain out the natural minerals present in facial skin.

Avoid washing the face with hot water as it tends to take away moisture from the skin. Cold water locks the cuticles and helps in retaining nutrients in the skin.

Eat a diet that comprises of vitamins E, A and K. These are good for the skin. Fruits like pineapple, banana, papaya, strawberries, watermelon, oranges are good for the skin as it moisturizes the skin, keeps it smooth and soft and has anti aging and anti wrinkle properties.

Using fruit juice with your face pack will help as these contribute to deep cleansing of the skin, removing dirt from pores, moisturizing it and adding a soft fresh look.

Include a lot of green leafy vegetables, raw vegetables like cucumber, tomatoes, onion, carrot to your meals. Avoid taking oily, deep fried, spicy food as it may lead to oily skin. Avoid too many sweetmeats and chocolates.

Drink plenty of water as it moisturizes the skin and also flushes the toxins. It prevents oiliness and acne like condition. Restrict the consumption of tea, coffee or colas.
