How to Get Shiny White Teeth
Staining leads to appearance of yellow or darkened areas in teeth that makes it look odd and embarrassing. Stained teeth are an indication of poor oral hygiene care, and require time and effort to restore the teeth to its healthy condition. Shiny white teeth also has cosmetic value as it enhances your smile, makes you feel confident during social face to face interactions.
Practicing daily hygiene is a way to achieve clean white teeth. Of course dental treatment and cosmetic treatments are available to polish the teeth and make it appear white by removing the stains settled on the surface of the teeth. However for long term oral hygiene, day to day oral health measures are a must.
To avoid staining, rinse your mouth thoroughly after every meal. This will avoid settling of plaque on the teeth and prevent teeth deterioration and discoloration. Brush your teeth twice daily, especially before going to bed so that bacterial action overnight can be reduced.
Using a whitening toothpaste can help in removing the stain and preventing discoloration of tooth enamel. You can also use home based remedies for whitening your teeth. For example, adding a pinch of baking soda to your normal toothpaste will help, as baking soda exfoliates the stained surface and is a natural cleaning agent.
Making a paste of few drops of lime with baking soda and massaging the teeth with it will remove plaque and discoloration marks. Eating strawberries is another natural way of whitening teeth. Strawberries are a natural bleaching agent and eating it after meals will prevent staining. Similarly eating raw vegetables like slices of cucumber, tomatoes, onions prevent staining of teeth.
Avoid contact of artificially colored eatables with teeth. For example, colas and soft drinks have artificial colours like orange, yellow etc to make them look more appealing and also for taste. Use a straw while drinking these, so that the tooth doesn’t get stained with these colours.
Similarly, while drinking coffee try to use a straw to avoid the formation of brownish film on the teeth surface. Smoking also leads to discoloration and must be avoided to keep the teeth white.
