How to Avoid Sleeplessness
Sleeping is the best form of relaxation. It is important and imperative to sleep well atleast for 6-7 hours a day for the mind and body to feel rejuvenated and recharged. Absence of sleep may effects and causes tiredness, low levels of concentration and alertness, dull mind, feeling of exhaustion and fatigue, listlessness, irritation.
Some of us may suffer severe headaches, develop acidity, digestion problems, changes in blood pressure, fainting or unconsciousness due to lack of sleep.
If you are a person who finds it difficult to fall asleep, you need to manage your lifestyle well. Establish a set routine when you will sleep. Do not overshoot the time. You must go off to sleep whenever you feel sleepy or else you may not get sleep later on. Maintain consistency in the time you sleep.
Avoid sleeping at odd hours during the day. Avoid excessive sleeping too. Inducing sleep might be a problem if you have slept well during the day.
Do not watch or read stimulating stuff before sleeping time. Do not watch movies that are thrillers, have suspense, are based on spirits or ghosts or other themes that cause the mind to get alert and ticking. Watching a light comedy or romantic movie might be better.
Same for books. Do not get carried away by the compulsions of the book you are reading. Put it down despite the temptation to go on with it.
Do not hear music that can enliven you and charge you up. Listening to instrumental music or soft light music may be better than rock, jazz or heavy metal.
Sleep in the same place and position that you normally fall asleep in. Darken the room and close the windows or door so that you are not affected by lights or noise.
Repeat a chant or a mantra or a rhythm. This will prevent the mind from wandering off and will induce a state of relaxation, calmness and sleep.
