How to Avoid Body Odor
Body odor can be very unpleasant, causing embarrassment and awkwardness as the odor starts emanating from the body and may put off people you are in close contact with. Body odor can be a result of poor hygienic practices and standards, and may also be a natural outcome of the level of physical exertion you undergo.
To get rid of odor, you must practice basic hygiene and sanitary measures everyday. For example, have a bath before stepping out for the workplace/college. Bathing not only refreshes you but also removes the accumulated dirt, grime, sweat, dead cells in the skin, which if not cleaned can lead to body odor.
If you are prone to sweating, and develop body odor, use a medicated soap that prevents bacterial action and also reduces odor. Use soaps, body wash that have a strong fragrance or fragrance that lingers for a long time. This will make the odor less prominent.
Bath at least twice a day for better odor prevention. While bathing you may add few drops of lavender extract, sandalwood extract or rosewater to the water. This helps in combating odor to some extent.
Do not sleep in clothes that you have been wearing through the day or wear for exercises or workouts. This is because the odor of sweat generated by exercising remains in the clothes and these clothes will invariably have a particular foul odor.
If you intend wearing these clothes later on, put these clothes to dry. Drying clothes may possibly reduce the foul smell. You can apply a strong deodorant or perfume so that the odor will not emanate.
Change your clothes daily. Wearing the same clothes frequently will leave a peculiar odor as clothes accumulate sweat, and dirt from the body as well as from the surroundings.
Wash clothes regularly. Use a good quality detergent with a lingering fragrance. Do not wear clothes that are still damp; dry them completely before wearing. This will prevent the damp, mouldy odor.
Do not wear tight fitting, body hugging clothes. Allowing free circulation of air will help in drying out the sweat and thereby preventing the foul, damp, peculiar odor that arises due to sweat. Wearing clothes that can absorb sweat will also be beneficial.
Change your undergarments and socks everyday.
