Healthy Breakfast Options
Breakfast should comprise of wholesome and nutritious food. Breakfast can be the heaviest meal of the day and other meals can be taken in smaller proportions. Breakfast is the most important source of energy for beginning the day to day activities and doing it efficiently. Therefore a sumptuous breakfast along with small meals in the day/night is good for health.
Eating a rich breakfast does not mean eating food in large quantities, it means eating food that are sources of energy. For example, eating boiled eggs, drinking a glass of milk, items prepared out of fermentation, food containing whole grains etc should be included in breakfast.
You can also have some fruits for breakfast as fruits contain natural sugar like glucose and fructose. These are instant energizers and help in keeping the body charged and stimulated. It will prevent the feeling of tiredness or exhaustion.
Breakfast should be low fat and low calories but high energy. Avoid using fast food like burgers, potato fries, deep fried oily food for breakfast. This can lead to feeling of exhaustion and saturation. The mind and body, both may feel dull and inactive.
Raw vegetables sandwich can be a quick, filling and nutritious choice. Use whole grain bread or wheat bread rather than white bread, as whole grains contain more dietary fibre and can be digested easily. Add slices of raw vegetables like cucumbers, boiled beetroot, tomatoes, onion rings to it.
Whole grain bread can be had with ketchup made of fresh tomato. You may add spinach or garlic paste for taste and flavour. Avoid using ketchup or jam made out of artificial flavours and preservatives.
Having a bowl of corn flakes or oatmeal added to boiled milk can be good. These are rich sources of fibre and low in fat and calories. For flavour you may add honey to it rather than sugar or other sweeteners.
Eating fruits like banana, oranges, papaya, apple or drinking fresh fruit juice will also add to energy and stamina.
