Health Benefits of Honey

    Honey comprises various vitamins and minerals that make it a healthy and medicinal item for consumption anytime across any location. The kinds of properties it has adds not only to the physical well being of an individual but can be used for cosmetic purposes too. It therefore finds variety of applications as a home remedy solution to some minor ailments and common illness and also for face care.

    It is a good source of vitamin B6 and contains amino acids too. It is a rich source of minerals like iron, calcium, copper, magnesium, potassium and manganese. It is low in fat, sodium and cholesterol and does not add up many calories on consumption.

    Honey is a good option for naturally reducing weight. Consuming a glass of warm water mixed with honey every morning on empty stomach helps in checking against weight gain. Adding lemon drops will be more beneficial. Honey also checks against hypertension and high blood sugar level.

    Due to presence of many minerals it is good for all age groups to consume. It can help in strengthening bones, and supplementing the body with iron, thereby preventing anemia and its fallouts.

    Honey is a good source of energy as it contains natural sugars like glucose and fructose. It is an excellent instant energizer and can be used by sports persons and athletes. It reduces the tired, exhausted and lethargic feeling.

    Honey can be used as a natural sweetener rather than using sugar or other sweetening agents. Honey is rich in dietary fibre and aids digestion. Adding honey drops to mashed banana or drinking a glass of warm water mixed with honey can help in relieving constipation.

    It also has anti oxidant properties. In addition, honey can be used as a home remedy option for many common ailments like common cold and sore throat. It can ease throat irritation and boosts immunity against infections too.
