Get A Gym Free Workout

Not everybody likes going to the gym, be it because of the expensive dues or the creepy guys leering at you from the elliptical or the annoying aerobics instructor. But the good news is that you need not go anywhere near a gym to get in your workout.

Amplify the household tasks
Vacuuming, dusting, picking up your child’s toys, rearranging the furniture, mopping the kitchen floor and other household chores can give you a great cardio workout and help you burn calories.

Skip the escalator or elevator
Instead of using the escalator or elevator at work or at the mall take the stairs. It will help you you’re your thighs, increase your heart rate and get a healthy glowing skin.

Count your steps
New research points out that when people wear a pedometer, they tend to increase the amount they walk per day by about 2,000 steps. So clip one on a pedometer and see how many steps you’re clocking chasing around the kids

Weightlifting
No, you don’t need to pump iron to build muscle. You can get similar results by bench pressing the baby while watching TV or doing a few bicep curls as you tote the groceries into the house. Another environment friendly alternative is to reduce, reuse, and recycle your empty milk jugs by filling them with water or sand and making your own set of weights.

Plan time to play
Half an hour of playtime like jumping rope, playing hopscotch or flying a kite can help a 135 pound woman burn over 100 calories. So instead of parking yourself on a bench when you take the kids to the park, get out there and play along with them.

Dance away
If aerobic classes are not an attractive proposition for you look for alternatives like cha-cha, salsa, jazz etc. You can lose about 160 calories in 30 minutes by jiving to music.

Gardening
You can burn anywhere between 100 to 300 calories per hour by watering, digging, raking, mowing, clipping and weed-pulling, depending on the intensity of the activity. It will help both you and your garden look better.

Think Out-of-the-box
You can get yourself into an exciting exercise routine by trying like kick-boxing, strip aerobics, belly dancing and the like.
