Factors Causing Obesity
Obesity is one of the most alarming concerns in population today. Obesity is a worrisome condition among adult population; however children are the new and latest victims of obesity. Obesity can be a genetic problem caused by internal processes or malfunctioning of certain systems in the body.
However, more prominent are the external factors that comprise dietary pattern and lifestyle. There has been a drastic change in the food consumption pattern of individuals and the manner of living too. It may be said that it has had a negative impact and this has contributed immensely to this problem of obesity.
The food intake has to be matched with the exact amount of physical activity so that the extra calories consumed get utilized and do not get deposited in the body. Either you must eat well and work harder or regulate your eating and balance it with certain level of physical work so that the balance is maintained.
Eat light but eat right. Eat small meals throughout the day rather than a large meal once a day. Eating a heavy meal especially at night should be avoided. Avoid eating foods like pizzas, burgers, potato fries, chips, wafers and other fried items. These foods do not have much nutritive value but add up the calorie count and cholesterol level in the body.
Unhealthy eating habits and stress can be a contributing factor too. Due to stress there can be alterations in the food consuming pattern. Some people tend to overeat during stress, there may be an urge to eat more and more, there may be cravings for oily spicy foods, craving for sweetmeats, chocolates etc. Persistently following such a lifestyle and giving in to cravings will cause obesity.
Couch potato culture has to be overcome. Spending more time on the internet or television, chatting, orkuting, excessive sleeping, as against working out, following active spots or pursuing fitness exercises will lead to obesity.
