Caring For Oily Skin
Oily skin has special skin care requirements just like dry skin. Though dry skin can be tackled by applying moisturizers, taking care of oily skin may need some effort.
Dust, grime and dirt from the atmosphere may easily get accumulated in the skin, thereby making it unclean and also leading to darkening of skin surface. Oily skin may also develop pimples if adequate cleansing is not done.
Keeping the skin clean is essential. This can be done by using a face wash or a solution that is specifically designed for this type of skin. Wash your face with anti-oil solution or gel to reduce the greasy and sticky feeling in the skin.
The skin must be cleansed well and pores must be cleaned so that dirt and grime are wiped away. This will prevent dark and unpleasant look of the skin, and will also help in preventing eruption of pimples.
Use products that contain natural ingredients, as oily skin is sensitive. You may use a medicated soap after consulting a dermatologist. Avoid using normal bathing soap to clean the facial skin, as many soaps contain animal fat and this can make the skin oily.
Get a deep cleansing treatment done once or twice a month so that the pores are thoroughly cleaned and pimples won’t set in. You may use a toner every night to wipe off dirt settled in the deeper pores. This gives a fresh, clean, smooth feel to the skin.
Avoid touching the facial skin constantly. Wash your hands thoroughly before touching skin. Do not rub the skin after washing. Dab it gently with a towel. Avoid sharing towels/handkerchief with anyone.
Avoid using honey, curd or mashed banana in face packs. These are moisturizers and may make the oily skin oilier. Adding sandalwood paste, mashed strawberry, or oats, papaya, cucumber, or tomato juice, turmeric powder or lemon drops to the face pack may help in reducing oiliness.
Drink plenty of water and fresh fruit juice. Consume more fat free, fibre rich food and cut down on milk based sweets, butter, cheese, cottage cheese, deep fried and greasy food.
