Nothing improves your sex appeal more than a perfect smile. And how do you get a perfect smile except through good dental hygiene?
The first rule of good dental hygiene is of course to brush your teeth twice daily at least. Dentists from all across the globe agree that it is the brushing technique more than the toothpaste brand or the type of toothbrush you use that helps in keeping your teeth healthy and white.
And here’s what you need to remember while brushing your teeth:
Type of toothbrush: The ideal tooth brush should be short headed and come with soft bristles. Most of the plaque and calculus accumulation occurs on the inner part of the lower teeth and the outer part of the upper teeth. A lower short -headed brush will fit in these areas and clean the surfaces properly. Soft bristles help remove the loose plaque without injuring the tooth and gums.
Time of brushing: You have to brush your teeth at least twice a day – at bedtime and in the morning. Most bacterial activity in the mouth occurs during the nights. Tooth brushing at bedtime leaves a clean tooth surface free of food particles. And any plaque that is formed during the night has to be cleaned in the morning. Tooth brushing in the morning could also be done after breakfast, which will ensure that your teeth are free of food debris.
Tooth Brushing technique: The toothbrush cleans most efficiently when the tips are applied with pressure to the tooth surface. When teeth are brushed with small circular strokes, it ensures that the bristles reach the spaces between the teeth.
Sequence of brushing teeth: For best results, the sequence of tooth brushing should be in this order: first the outer surface of the teeth, then the inner surface of the lower teeth, followed by the inner surface of the upper teeth, then the chewing surface, and finally the tongue to remove the adhering plaque deposits.
