Avoiding Tan
Tan could be a result of exposure to harsh sunlight, direct exposure to sun due to lack of protective cover or exposure to certain chemicals or using inappropriate face care products that may lead to darkening of skin. The skin may lose its healthy vibrant and clean appearance due to tanning and appearance of dark sports or pimples. The skin can look unpleasant if tanning is not uniform and appears in patches on the skin.
Protection is possible by taking preventive steps like applying a sun block lotion before stepping out in the sun. A sun protection cream with SPF 40 may be suited to you; you can choose a lower denomination if the exposure to sun is lower. Now a days sunscreen with SPF 60 is also available for better protection, especially in case you are going for a dip on a beach while on a vacation.
You may also use UV protection lotion to prevent darkening of skin. You might also consider the fact that the lotion gets absorbed into the skin within a span of say an hour or so, so you need to reapply the sunscreen if you are still exposed to the sun. To avoid tanning, it might be a better idea to go to beaches while the sun is still not up rather than going while the sun is at its peak.
Those going to swimming pools need to exercise more caution to avoid deep tanning. Apply a sunscreen lotion and massage it evenly on the skin till it is absorbed into the skin. Moisturize your skin adequately before entering the pool. The chlorine content in the water, and the exposure to sun (if the pool is uncovered) can lead to deep tanning. Applying coconut oil abundantly on the skin may help in preventing tan. Try choosing a time when the sun won’t be right up, like say early morning or late in the evening.
If you need to do work outdoors, step out early in the morning so that you do not have to expose yourself to sun. Carry an umbrella or cap so that you are shadowed and contact with direct sun rays is avoided. Wear full sleeved clothes to prevent tanning of arms.
