A Few Diet Myths
Being lean has forever been popular with people all over the world. However people in their constant search in achieving the lean look make mistakes regarding the diet that they follow. There are always too many recommendations and not necessarily are all these recommendations beneficial. In place of true and healthy diet habits, people pass on some myths, and you need to be very careful about not following those. So read on and get ready to evaluate your own routine; you may be applying some of these bogus theories in your own life.
A very popular diet myth is that low-fat food is healthy. Low-fat versions of various food items are often full of added ingredients, like sugar and flour, there to improve the flavour of the newly fat-deficient food. However, extra doses of refined carbohydrates like sugar and flour can just cause you to become hungry again much faster.
Eliminating carbohydrates as a good way to lose weight is another myth. High protein and low carbohydrate diet is very unhealthy. By cutting out carbohydrates, which the body craves for a reason, you can become irritable, nauseous and weak. Also eating fewer carbohydrates and extra protein puts you at risk of developing various liver ailments.
If you thought skipping meals is a good way to lose weight, think again. It is not only unhealthy but it often leads you to ingest more when you eventually do eat Also inconsistent eating makes it hard for your body to regulate its metabolism.
There is another myth that eating after 7 pm causes weight gain. What you actually need to see to is that you don’t overeat just before going off to sleep, as your metabolism at night is much leaner than it is during the day, and hence you don’t burn the same amount of calories that you would if you were awake.
Just because you exercise does not mean that you can eat anything you want to. Do note that while exercise does burn calories, you’re still susceptible to weight gain if you’re eating large portions of unhealthy food.
Diet fads will always drift in and out of popularity, but the essential rules of healthy eating have remained the same for decades – eat a balanced meal and stay healthy.
